Who can access Context Manager from chat?
Context Manager is available from chat only when Context Manager is enabled for the workspace and the user has data model edit access.
If either condition is not met, the user will not see the Context Manager button in the chat input.
Requirements
A user can access Context Manager from chat only when both of these are true:
Context Manager is enabled for the workspace.
The user’s role includes
data_model_editpermission.
Roles that can access Context Manager from chat
These roles include data model edit access:
Organization Admin
Admin
Developer
Developer without Deploy
Users with these roles can see and open Context Manager from chat when Context Manager is enabled for the workspace.
Roles that cannot access Context Manager from chat
These roles do not include data model edit access:
Explore
View
Embed
Embed with Scheduling
Embed with SQL
Restricted
Users with these roles will not see the Context Manager button in chat.
What about Explore users?
Explore users can use Zoë and analysis features that are available to their role, but Explore access does not include data model edit access.
That means Explore-only users cannot open Context Manager from chat.
If an Explore user needs to edit the data model or use Context Manager, a workspace admin should review whether the user should be moved to a Developer, Developer without Deploy, Admin, or Organization Admin role.
Troubleshooting
If a user expects to see Context Manager but does not:
Confirm Context Manager is enabled for the workspace.
Confirm the user has one of the roles with data model edit access.
Confirm the user is in the correct workspace.
Ask the user to refresh the page or log out and back in after a role change.
If the issue persists, contact support with the user email, workspace name, and current role.
